What is an LLND pre-enrolment assessment and is it required?+

Under Outcome Standard 2.2 of the Standards for RTOs 2025, all RTOs must conduct a pre-enrolment review of each learner's Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) capabilities. The assessment must be documented and used to determine learner suitability and identify required support strategies. A simple checkbox or informal screening is no longer sufficient.

What is the ACSF and why does it matter for LLND assessment?+

The Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) is the national framework for measuring adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy performance. ASQA expects RTOs to map learner results to ACSF levels to demonstrate alignment with each qualification's demands. The Digicomp 3.0 performs the same role for digital literacy — now mandatory under the 2025 Standards.

What LLND evidence does ASQA look for during an audit?+

ASQA looks for: documented pre-enrolment LLND assessment results; ACSF mapping linking results to the qualification's demands; a suitability determination record; and evidence of learner support plans where gaps were identified. Digital literacy (Digicomp 3.0) must also be assessed and documented. AVETRUS generates all of this automatically.
